Plaza Kukulkan

This shopping mall has been completely remodeled to offer an upscale, luxurious setting for the most discerning visitors. It features some of the best restaurants in Cancun like Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Cenacolo and a wide assortment of boutiques. Within its facilities you will find the famed “Luxury Avenue”, where you can buy designer jewelry, perfumes and clothing.

La Isla Shopping Village

La Isla offers a fabulous outdoor concept with bridges and fountains and is perfect for spending the whole day. There are many activities that you can enjoy at this original mall, including shopping, dining, watching movies or taking your kids to an entertaining dolphin show. It has recently been expanded and now it offers a new section called La Isla 2 with more stores, restaurants, ice cream parlors and nice spots where you can just sit to relax and feel the breeze.

Plaza Flamingo

This mall features several excellent restaurants such as Outback Steakhouse, Margaritaville and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., one of the most famous nightclubs in Cancun, Pat O’Brians, as well as all kinds of stores, making a stop here perfect for a great shopping and dining experience.

Forum by the Sea

Located right in the middle of night action, Forum by the Sea is well-know for the venues located in its facilities: the famous Hard Rock Café and Rainforest Café, as well as the popular Mexican restaurant Carlos and Charlie’s and the Argentinean Cambalache restaurant. It is also right next to Cocobongo and in front of Dady’O, lively and hip nightclubs that every night are crowded with people from all over the world.
Cancun’s Hotel Zone also offers two open-air markets where you can buy all kinds of souvenirs and handicrafts to take back home. One of them is La Fiesta Market, which sells typical Mexican objects and silver jewelry; the other one is Coral Negro located across the street from Plaza Forum by the Sea, where you can buy from embroidered t-shirts to all kinds of regional arts and crafts.
If you head to Cancun’s Centro, you will see many stores that usually cater to the locals; among them there are several outdoor shops where you can buy souvenirs at much lower prices than in Cancun’s Hotel Zone. Ki-Huic Market on Tulum Avenue, the main thoroughfare in Downtown Cancun, features shirts, hats, ornaments, silver jewelry and a wide variety of typical handicrafts. But the most popular open market is Market 28 with more than 100 shops and stores that feature an amazing variety of articles: from beachwear to pottery; from shoes to silver objects, and everything in between; there are also several venues where you can have a good meal, some of them specialize in seafood.
Today, there are several shopping malls in Downtown Cancun, but by far, the most crowded by locals and visited by tourists remains Plaza Las Americas. Plaza Las Americas is a complete center of shopping and entertainment with large department stores such as Liverpool and Dorian’s, as well as many boutiques, shoes and jewelry stores. It also features an extensive food court, 18 screens in two movie theaters and a big supermarket.
Cancun offers shopping opportunities for all tastes and every budget, beautiful articles at luxurious malls or at small handicraft shops; so don’t miss the opportunity to take back home an original handmade object or buy that designer purse you want so much!
